Story
I've walked 1004km of the Via Francigena in Italy to raise £1004 for charities supporting research into and helping families with dementia, and for Cardiff City Hospice. I've now completed the entire distance, but you can still donate!
If you'd like to make a donation, your contribution would be greatly appreciated. You can read about my journey on the daily blog (lots of photos too): https://wrinkliesonthevia.blogspot.com/
In 2019, when I hatched the plan to walk the Via in 2020, I couldn't have known what was in store for Italy and the world. I did manage to do 115km in July and August 2020 when things had calmed down considerably, and it cemented my determination to finish the walk.
The lockdowns and uncertainties at the start of 2021 made planning impossible, so I waited until vaccination made travel through Italy possible again. In May 2022 I walked 23 stages and managed 440km until a foot injury forced an earlier stop than planned. In October 2022, I squeezed in another 162km from Camaiore to Siena in Tuscany and, in April 2023, I finished the walk and arrived at St Peter's in Rome on 2 May.
Thanks to your generosity, I have now exceeded my target amount, but I'm still hoping for some support for my 13 mile mountain trek for Alzheimer's Society on 8 July 2023, and you can donate by clicking the link below:

The Via Francigena is an ancient pilgrimage route which starts in Canterbury, and goes through France and Switzerland before it reaches Italy. It finishes at St Peter's in Rome.
