Coast to Coast is returning to Wales! 2022's challenge will take you from the Northern to Southern parts of Wales, passing through some of the most beautiful scenic views and heritage sites. Who's ready for the challenge?

Story

VeloTeam Booker 2022 are ten colleagues dedicated to helping Grocery Aid raise much needed funds to support industry colleagues old and new. We'll be riding Wales Coast to Coast in July and London to Paris in September with the aim of raising at least £12,500 in the process.

The team includes cyclists of varying ages and abilities, from dedicated roadies covering thousands of miles a year to recent newcomers. Regardless of experience, both rides represent real challenges with some of the UK's toughest and most iconic climbs in store. Wales Coast to Coast is three days of relentless mountain roads. London to Paris kicks off with the unforgiving South Downs to conquer before the long trek across northern France. We'll be giving it our all to support our industry charity, GroceryAid.

Last year GroceryAid spent £5million helping grocery colleagues in need

4,200 colleagues received direct support

1,327 Children were helped with school essentials

416 working carers received grants

Covid-19 created exceptional circumstances affecting both the physical and mental health of colleagues, particularly those who continued to work in customer facing roles despite the increased personal risk. Nobody knows what 2022 has in store, we can only hope things improve. In the meantime with Covid still at large in the community and food and energy price inflation causing huge increases in the cost of living there's no doubt that GroceryAid will be needed as much if not more than before. Please, if you're able to do so dig deep and give as much as you can

Thank You

Meet the Team

Victoria Read. Age withheld!! Joined us last year on the Wales Coast to Coast and rode the entire distance one-legged. We're hoping she'll use both this year. She would love to ride the Pacific Coast Highway in California

Steve Marston, 56. In addition to the Wales Coast to Coast Steve will be taking part in "Chase the Sun", a 205 mile epic from the East Kent coast at Sunrise to Burnham-on-Sea by Sunset on the longest day of the year and the 160 mile Tour of Flanders in April with it's famous leg killing Cobbles and 20%+ Bergs.

Glynn Needs, 45. Veteran of the Wales Coast to Coast in 2019 and 2021. He's no stranger to hills, living and training close to the Exmoor National Park in Devon. Longest ride to date the 300 mile / 3 day Bike to the Bard for GroceryAid in 2021.

Lee Edwards, 46. Has tackled such major events as L'etape Du Tour, The Marmotte and The Welsh Dragon but his greatest day on the bike was completing Ride London on a Tandem with his non-cyclist wife.

Martin Swadling, 51. Took on and conquered the Whitehaven to Whitby Coast to Coast Ride in 2017 and the Wales Coast to Coast in 2019 so a glutton for punishment for sure. Would love to ride through the Bordeaux Vinyards but freely admits that could end up being a very short ride.

John Foster, 61. Returned to cycling in 2016 after a 30 year break and has been racking up the miles ever since. This year's challenge is the London to Paris following last year's Bike to the Bard. He'd love to ride the Icelandic Ring Road, all 828 miles of it.

Mike Caddle, 43. Would love to accompany his brother on a Lands End to John O'Groats expedition. Based in Cumbria, he's used to tackling some of the toughest hills in the country.

Steve Hayes. The original Welsh Dragon. Steve lives and rides in the heart of the very landscape we'll be tackling on the Wales Coast to Coast. Like a trusty diesel engine, Steve will pull the train all day.

Tom Patterson, back on the bike for the first time in years. Fully committed to completing the London to Paris this year despite not having ridden for a long, long time. Already in the gym and the pool to improve his chances, Tom's determined to see the Eiffel Tower in September.

Peter Featherstone, 54. New to the team for 2022 but on his bike since 2009. Peter's looking for his next challenge and this year that's that the three-day London to Paris. Peter's longest day in the saddle saw him cover 132 miles and his toughest, a 100 mile trip to the Norfolk coast into a 20mph headwind
