Story
Two Peaks and Two Pedals - A New Challenge
I have been fundraising since 2007, a year after my triplet daughters Jewel, Louisa and Milla were born, 16 weeks prematurely. Jewel sadly passed away after 17 days.
Milla had severe cerebral palsy and was unable to walk or talk. She often received respite care at Acorns Children's Hospice for the Three Counties in Worcester. It gave her a nice change of environment, and us as parents a much needed rest. Her twin sister Louisa also has additional needs; she is blind in 1 eye, autistic and developmentally delayed.
Sadly, in 2016, while on a family visit to Indonesia, Milla became ill very suddenly and passed away from sepsis.
I promised I would continue to fundraise in Milla, and Jewel's memory. To date I have raised over £50,000 for amazing charities including Acorns Children's Hospice, Make A Wish UK, Scope, Bliss and The Bike Project.
From cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End, running the London Marathon, climbing Kilimanjaro and trekking to Everest, as well as many other endurance challenges on my bike or on foot, every mile cycled, walked and run has been to make a difference to other families and children with life limiting conditions.
The Challenge
In June 2024, I will be taking on my last big physical challenge. At the age of 55 and over £50,000 raised, I want to take on my biggest fundraising event - Two Peaks and Two Pedals.
The plan is to climb the highest mountains in England and Wales, Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1,085m) and cycle between the two peaks, a distance of approximately 200 miles (320km).
The fundraising target is £2,063 - the combined height of Scafell Pike and Snowdon.
Joining me on this challenge will be my good friend and fellow fundraiser, Simon Deakin-Woods. Simon will be climbing Scafell Pike and Snowdon with me and providing vehicle support over the two cycling days.
I am very grateful Simon wants to take part in this challenge and his support will be much appreciated.
The Charity
Acorns Children's Hospice are a lifeline, a family, a friend. They provide vital respite services, care and support for hundreds of life limited children and their families in three hospices across the West midlands in the UK. Since 2020, I have been proud to represent Acorns as a Parent Carer Champion. To see and understand how critical their work is and how much Acorns made a difference to Milla and us, and to so many children and families, is the reason I am prepared to take on these challenge.
Please support me and donate whatever you can.
This is my final biggie...my last big fundraising challenge. My last hurrrah! I would love to raise as much as possible and make every step and every mile special, knowing it is making a huge difference.
Thank you,
Tony Frobisher
