Hello everyone,

I would like to share a heartfelt story about the charity that myself & my brother Tristan have chosen to support, which holds an incredibly special place in our hearts. My youngest son was diagnosed with Mucopolysaccharidosis 1 (MPS 1 - Hurler Syndrome), a rare genetic disease that is incurable and significantly shortens lifespan. Without treatment, children may only live until the ages of 5 to 10, while those who receive treatment may have a chance to live into their 20s or 30s.

The one treatment available to help with his development and slow down the effects of this disease is a Stem Cell Transplant. Last September, he matched with a remarkable young lady from Germany, and we were overjoyed when doctors confirmed his amazing 12/12 match. On October 9th, 2024, he underwent his Stem Cell Transplant.

We have faced ups and downs along this journey; he also required vital treatment for Graft versus Host Disease. Thankfully, he overcame that challenge with flying colours. I am immensely grateful for the successful transplant and for our incredible donor who made this possible.

Now, at 141 days post-transplant, he is thriving! However, we still have a long road ahead of us. It’s inspiring to know there are so many wonderful people on the donor list willing to help others in their time of need.

We hope to raise awareness about how vital Stem Cell Transplants are and how many people require support.
