Story
Approaching 50 years of age and with a taste for ale I thought it was time to do something about my fitness and middle age spread whilst also supporting two charities that are very important to me. The last year has been desperate for charities with many of their fund raising activities cancelled so I decided that I would focus my training and journey to ULTRA MARATHON runner on raising valuable funds for charity.
The challenge is considerable...run 60km off road over the Cumbrian fells. Raising money for Trinity Hospice & Brian House and Alzheimer's Research .
Alzheimer's & Dementia is in our family and we’ve lost relatives to the illness in recent times and have others suffering from worsening conditions at present. Helping to raise funds for further research will hopefully help others live out a better life once diagnosed with this terrible illness.
Trinity Hospice & Brian House provides palliative care for residents on the Fylde Coast and also supports our NHS needs during peak periods such as we've experienced during the Coronavirus pandemic. I would normally participate in several events arranged by Trinity Hospice each year but as these have been cancelled then I hope my quest to become ULTRA MARATHON runner is someway helping to raise some valued funds.
