Story
TP Hire is proud to present the Mixed Netball Tournament for Macmillan with more activities to be announced in due course.
Macmillan is the UK’s leading cancer supporter charity giving personal, one-to-one care and support to thousands of people every day. Cancer can affect anyone and receiving a cancer diagnosis can turn life upside down in a single moment. Macmillan nurses, doctors and cancer experts help people make sense of their diagnosis, guide them through treatment and provide help and support in every aspect of life including physical, emotional and financial. While cancer is not always life threatening, it’s almost always life changing, and having the right support can have a huge impact on a person’s physical and emotional wellbeing, as well as significantly improve a patient’s recovery.
Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them.
Costs of Macmillan Services
Every £1 we spend on our phone service could lead to our welfare rights advisers on our Macmillan Support Line helping people affected by cancer to claim £25.72 in benefits they are entitled to.
£33 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for one hour helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support
A £350 Macmillan Grant could help with the extra costs that living with cancer can bring, such as the travel costs of getting to and from appointments, higher energy bills as a result of needing to keep warm during treatment, or the purchase of appliances to make the preparation of food easier
£500 could help run our Online Community forum for 1 day. In this time, 2,398 people affected by cancer in the UK can give emotional and practical support to each other on anything to do with cancer – from treatments, to coping with everyday life, to the death of a loved one.
£5,000 could support our Cancer Information and Support team to run our Macmillan Support Line phone service for 1 day. In this time, they could deal with 297 calls and web enquiries from people who want questions answered, need practical or financial support, or just want to chat.
£10,000 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for approximately one month, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.
