We support aspergillosis patients to enhance understanding of the illness

Story

In 2013 15 cyclists and our trusty van driver cycled from Blackpool Tower to the Eiffel Tower raising over £10,000 for charity.

It's our 10 year anniversary and we are doing it all over again and this time raising awareness and with your help hopefully some money for the Aspergillosis trust.

Darren's wife suffers from this rare, debilitating and sometimes deadly infection and the condition is becoming more and more prominent.

Times are tough at the moment for everyone so any support you can offer us is greatly appreciated and we hope to thank you all individually along the way with our daily vlogs.

You will be able to follow our progress during the ride on the aspergillosis trust's twitter feed and Facebook page or visit one of our rider's own Facebook page.

About the Aspergillosis trust The vision of Aspergillosis Trust is to achieve the best outcomes for all aspergillosis patients, until such time as a cure can be found.

We have an aspiration to support research into the disease and mycology generally that can help improve health outcomes for patients. We will work towards this by: Raising awareness of aspergillosis amongst the general public. Finding ways to ensure patients get the best possible information to help them manage the illness. Increase the understanding of the condition amongst medical professionals.

Our aim is to preserve and protect good health of people suffering from Aspergillosis by: - • Raising awareness of aspergillosis and increase the understanding of the condition amongst medical professionals and the public at large; • Supporting sufferers globally by providing information and creating real and virtual support networks for sufferers of the most common forms of the disease; • Circulating up-to-date information about the condition with all forms of aspergillosis and help them understand the disease and treatments; • Raising funds for research, with the aim of making aspergillosis far more readily recognisable than at present; • Via joint initiatives, educate healthcare professionals of the symptoms and treatment of aspergillosis as it is often missed and can take years to reach the correct diagnosis; and • Represent aspergillosis patients in wider lung health networks.
