Story
Dr Waled Mannan, Zahed Choudhury and Motin Miah have lost their minds!
We, three old men, are going for one of the biggest challenges of our lives. We are going to participate in this years Virgin Money London Marathon 2021, running 26.2 miles to help reduce the devastating effects of the global water crisis.
This will be more than twice as long as we have ever run and it is an incredible goal needing much training, commitment and endurance. We have dodgy knees, unwieldy pot bellies, muscular problems and severe cases of anxiety. But this pales in significance to the lives lost everyday due to lack of clean water.
We are determined to be successful but we need your help raising money for the Dig Deep campaign to provide safe, clean drinking water for children, families and the elderly living in Africa.
Water is the single most important substance in the world. Clean and safe water is essential to healthy living.
And yet we have a global water crisis with over 40% of the global world not having access to enough clean water. This can be for a number of reasons; from drought, to oppression, to a lack of infrastructure. In developing countries, about 80% of illnesses are linked to poor water and sanitation conditions.
Reliable access to safe, clean water means that drinking, cooking, washing, watering crops and animals can no longer pose a risk of illness.
It also means that women and children don’t have to walk for miles to collect, often dirty, water. The average distance that women and children walk to collect water in Africa and Asia is 3.7 miles, carrying around 20 litres of water.
We want to help Penny Appeal to help those affected to stay healthy, grow their own food, have time for children to go to school.
A simple well gives the less fortunate a chance to break free from poverty and transform their lives for years to come.
Help us make make a BIG difference today to give the gift of fresh, clean water to those in need.
