Raising money for Railway Children and RMA - The Royal Marines Charity

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!

3 Peaks.

3 Gears.

96 hours.

Two Santander Bikes.

After delaying the challenge due to Covid-19, we have now set a new date; 5th August to 8th August!

We are aiming to take on the National Three Peaks Challenge. But with a twist - We’re using Santander bikes to cycle to each mountain.

We are doing this to raise money for two fantastic Charities!

The Railway children provide protection and opportunity for children with nowhere else to go and nobody to turn to. Every year thousands of children across the UK, India, and East Africa run away or are forced to leave homes that have become unbearable through poverty, abuse, violence, and neglect.

The Royal Marines Charity seeks to “provide the best possible through life charitable support for Royal Marines, their families, veterans, and cadets”. From providing financial assistance to helping veterans find a second, meaningful career, they support Marines and their families in numerous aspects of their lives.

We appreciate every penny donated to these meaningful causes and hope you can support & watch our journey.

Details of Challenge.

The challenge requires climbing the three highest peaks in the United Kingdom.

Ben Nevis (Scotland) Scafell Pike (England) and Snowdon (Wales). The peaks cover 4000 meters of ascent (all of which we will do on foot!).

To get to each peak, we will be using the sturdiest bikes we could find. Which has kindly been loaned to us by Santander Bicycles. Weighing 23kg and with 3 gears, these noble steeds are excellent for the job in hand.

We will be cycling close to 500 miles, starting from Ben Nevis making our way to the summit of Scarfell for the finish line at the top of Mt Snowdon. It will be hard and arduous, testing our physical and mental capabilities to our max. But well worth it.

With climbing the peaks and cycling combined, we are aiming to complete the challenge in under 96 hours to avoid late docking fees.

So, how can YOU get involved?

There are many ways to get involved! The easiest is donating - Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast, and secure. Your donations will not only go to an amazing cause but also keep us fuelled to carry on during the challenge. We will have a social media account devoted to our challenge which you can follow our training but also tune in when we carry out the challenge, watching all our ups and downs.

Can’t donate? No worries! We will require all kinds of support. The easiest is to share our page as wide as you can to spread the word.

We are encouraging people from all walks of life to ride with us on our journey. We will be going at a relatively slow pace and welcome anyone who wants to ride with us to enjoy the views of the beautiful landscapes as well as the views of three delusional individuals.

Thanks for your support!

Love from Team,

Third Wheel.
