Story
Join us on our adventure as The Three Unwise Men take on the Poles of Inconvenience Rally! This charity rally, unlike any other, will see us driving to some of the most remote locations across Europe and North Africa. Each Pole of Inconvenience is hand-selected to be as impractical, difficult, stupid and nigh-on impossible to reach. These extremely challenging terrains will test our endurance, resourcefulness and teamwork. In our minds, it's a Top Gear special! and in some ways it really is; the car has to be a maximum of 1.2 litres and cost less than £500.
Our team consists of two Suffolk boys and a Spaniard hoping to give our rusty, written-off Ford Fiesta the adventure of a lifetime. The idea was, of course, originally devised in the pub. Apart from a driver's licence and a keen sense of enthusiasm, it is quite difficult to pin down exactly what the Suffolk boys bring to the team. Luckily, our other team member, Estanis, adds more car knowledge than the others combined. We found our (t)rusty steed, Felicia, through a friend and she set us back the fine sum of £350. Her condition at best could be described as undriveable. Miraculously, we got her running and after some of our finest bodging she passed her MOT. Chief Mechanic Estanis is now in a stage of finer tuning with a roof fack, rally light bars and the like going in. From the most recent photos, she looks the part! With bond-like switches, presumably for the ejector seat and champagne.
As well as the opportunity for adventure this rally is also driven by a higher purpose. We are raising funds for two charities. The T-21 charity, an incredible organization that provides employment opportunities and activities for young adults with Down's Syndrome. This cause is very close to our hearts; Nat's cousin Cosmo has Down's Syndrome and has been working in the Café for a couple of years. He always says it is one of the best parts of his week and he has made a huge number of friends there - from colleagues to regulars.
We will also be supporting the rally's official charity: Cool Earth. A charity that aims to preserve and protect the rainforests by working with Indigenous communities.
The Impact of Your Support
Every donation we receive goes directly to our chosen charities, making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most. Your contributions to T-21 will go towards their Activities Programme. The charity organizes cookery, horticulture, woodwork, and craft activities that complement the team's work in the cafe.
The rally takes place from the 14th of July and, with any luck, we will finish on the 7th of August in Prague. To follow our progress make sure to follow our Instagram @the.three.unwise.men where we will post regular updates of our preparation and the real thing!
From The Three Unwise Men thank you for your generosity and belief in our mission.
