Story
Dan - I am excited to run the London Marathon next year in aid of The North Wales Cancer Appeal because, as a lung cancer doctor, I witness firsthand the profound impact this disease has on patients and their families. By participating in this marathon, I hope to raise awareness and funds to support critical research and patient care initiatives. Additionally, my family has inspired me to take on this challenge as a meaningful way to celebrate my 50th birthday, combining my passion for running with my dedication to my patients and the community. Their encouragement has fueled my determination to make a difference and honor this milestone in a purposeful and impactful way.
Anna - I sat for a moment thinking why do I want to run the London Marathon? I didn’t know where to start! I decided to use the acrostic of the word itself to help focus my thoughts onto paper…..
M = Me!!! Ultimately I want to do this for myself. A once in a lifetime challenge.
A = Activity- the importance of keeping fit & active in life both for physical & mental wellbeing.
R = Raise awareness & funds for the North Wales Cancer Appeal.
A = Achievement- to achieve both goals of fundraising & completing the 26.2 miles
T = Team spirit - run with my colleagues for support & rapport
H = Hope to rise above adversity & be successful in this challenge.
O = Opening the door to new rewarding experiences in life.
N = North Wales -to raise awareness & funds for our local community.
Lisa - Why oh Why!!!!
Over the years watching the London Marathon on TV has always felt unachievable for me. My running accolade stopped at couch to 5k!! But this year I had the overwhelming feeling that I wanted to go for it!! I knew several runners in LM24 and watched how they trained, ran and proudly donned their shiny new medal. It was only then did I think I could actually achieve it for myself.
This will not be easy for me but when I put my mind to something I will always give 100%.
My colleagues and I have decided to join forces in fundraising for the North Wales Cancer Appeal and intend to plan lots of fun events for all to enjoy. Fundraising is absolutely vital in order for NHS cancer services to continue the fabulous work they do for those in need.
We will keep this page updated with our fundraising plans and look forward to seeing you there if you can.
Thank you.
