Story
The Great Walk is an annual event, where Unilever employees and guests come together to do good whilst doing good for others, by walking a full or half marathon and raising money for charity. In 3 years, The Great Walk has connected over 700 walkers and have raised more than £150,000 for Liverpool Ocular Oncology Research Group (LOORG) in memory of our friend and colleague, Renee Metroka.
As a team, we are exceptionally proud of how we have come together to support LOORG in memory of Renee. LOORG supports life-changing clinical research into the pathogenesis and treatment of adult ocular tumours to improve patient care and survival and your donations meant LOORG have been able fund more research to improve patient care and survival.
With The Great Walk heading into year four, we’re introducing a second charity partner to the event to support an additional charity close to our Unilever family – we know the power of partnerships and the role they play. That’s why we’re immensely proud to continue to work closely Liverpool Ocular Oncology Research Group (LOORG) and support Live Life Give Life, an organ donation awareness charity.
Did you know… 3 people die every day in the UK waiting for an organ transplant. That’s thousands of children, women and men every year. However, 80% of people haven’t shared their donation choice with their family. Live life, Give life’s goal is to get people to sign up and then share their organ donor choices, so that their family will honour their decision when the time com. There’s a real need for clarity and truth, along with personal experiences shared by medics, donor families and patients. By educating people on the positives of organ donation, live life give live hope more people make organ donation their legacy…it only takes 2 minutes to sign up to the donor register!
In 2022, we are on a mission to go bigger and better than ever before and make it our biggest year yet! We would like to support both charities equally so please sponsor on both of our pages 😊
Your sponsorship means so much to us.
Thank you!
