Dementia is such a cruel disease you watch the person you know & love gradually disappear. In my case it is both my parents, my mum with vascular dementia who sadly lost her battle after 4 years & passed away in Sept 21. My dad sadly passed away Jul this year from Alzheimer’s after 11 years with the disease. This disease takes peoples personalities until they are no longer there. I am lucky as both my mum & dad still recognised me at the end. I thought about not doing this walk as it will be a challenge for many reasons but its close to mums first anniversary & I will complete it if it takes me all night!
