Story
I think we can all agree that the last few years have been difficult. The global pandemic has really affected charities ability to carry out fundraising, which has impacted the service they provide to people that need them. It is because of this, the teams ambition is to help raise funds by carrying out a half marathon and the National 3 peaks challenge within just 6 days of each other.
The 3 peaks challenge consists of climbing the 3 tallest peaks in the UK within 24 hours. We will be climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden all within 24 hours (This includes the driving between the mountains also). We will start at Ben Nevis at 5pm on Friday the 25th of May and conclude our challenge before 5pm on Saturday the 26th at Mt Snowden. We will be walking 23 miles, ascending a total of 15,000 ft and driving 450 miles within the time period.
This challenge will not be an easy, however just to increase the level of difficulty we have also decided to run a half marathon on the 22nd of May.
The team have chosen to support both Mentell and The Christies. Mentell work out of Hall & Co’s co working space, PROFOLK, and offer a safe place for Men 18+ to talk. Did you know that 1 in 4 people suffer from mental health issues? Did you know that suicide is the biggest killer of Men under 35? Mentells mission is to connect men with support networks to help them through the tough moments.
The Christie is the largest single site cancer centre in Europe and the first UK centre to be accredited as a comprehensive cancer centre. They treat more than 60,000 patients a year. Our team have been personally affected by Cancer over the last few years and believe strongly in trying to support the fantastic work the Christie continue to do every year.
Both charity’s are really worthy causes and both need as much support as possible. If you would be able to offer any such support via donating we would really appreciate it.
