Story
Charities always do critical work that supports our basic society, without us even noticing most days.
Many charities rely largely on events for funding and are vulnerable to rapid changes in funding - like other companies.
The difference is charities don't have a profit pot or cashflow reserve to fall on, because this unrestricted funding for admin and management or a rainy day is the hardest to get.
The consequence is that where companies failing affect staff and employees, charities collapsing hurt staff AND the most vulnerable members of our society: elderly, homeless, children, differently abled, people that are discriminated against, abused, don't have access to critical support they need and don't know where to get it.
I am sure that in these times with limited movement, hospital beds and food supplies you can all relate to what that feels like.
Imagine feeling like that all the time.
These big social issues take time and consistent effort to fix. Which is why consistent and continuous work is really important. Collapsing programmes now could undo years of good work.
Let's continue building a bright future together and get ourselves on the line fighting to save hope and equality in our society.
