Story
April 25th 2020 was the day that changed my family forever! I went from being a very outgoing chap, 44 to be exact, some would say 'mad' but one that was full of confidence, a very proud dad of two beautiful girls. after feeling a bit funny I was informed "you've had a stroke you should be okay? good luck you can go home". you could say I've dodged a bullet? I'm still here! and still a very proud dad!
I had to relearn how to walk, talk. wash myself go to the loo. get dressed, the list goes on... i was told I might never swim, ride a bike. drive a car. I've proven them all wrong!, and I hope I can keep going in life doing just that.
One thing that has kept me going through this rehab has been different strokes charity, where I have met some true warriors and now happy to say Id class them as extended family yielding some good friends now, all with diferent stories of their own but all with the same goal, to make the best of what we have now and learning to adapt to this new future.
Last year my eldest ran 10k for different strokes raising £??? with a view to do this abseil the tower at the olympic park London, sadly i developed horrific back pain through a trapped nerve, caused by me walking with a limp which required an operation, so we postponed till this year. The good news my youngest is now old enough to do this abseil too. so 'team Chatham'. is now after sponsorship to do this, please dig deep as it for an amazing charity.
Thank you
Barry
