Story

The Anne Rowling Clinic is part of the University of Edinburghs College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. It delivers clinical care and research to improve the lives of people with degenerative conditions affecting the brain.
Its researchers and clinicians study the following neurological conditions:
multiple sclerosis (MS)
motor neurone disease (MND)
Parkinson's disease (PD) and movement disorders
Huntington's disease
stroke due to brain haemorrhage
cognitive disorders (problems with memory, language, thinking and understanding)
The Anne Rowling Clinic was founded by author J.K. Rowling and has charitable status through the University of Edinburgh Development Trust.

The National Three Peak Challenge involves climbing the highest peak in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales. The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km), the total ascent is 3064 meters (10,052ft) and the total driving distance for the challenge is 462 miles. The overall driving distance was 988 miles when adding in getting to and from the Peaks.

A smaller team than anticipated, 5 plus a driver, were able to take part and set out for Ben Nevis. The last few hundred meters of Ben Nevis were in cloud, and the top was about 0 degrees C with a wind chill of -8. Just as well the challenge doesn’t allow for hanging around. The weather for the next two peaks was ideal. We were behind schedule when setting out for Snowdon and then lost 1 ½ hours stuck in traffic (should have checked English holidays before choosing a date). One of the team managed to climb the peaks within the 24 hours and another did the climbs in the allocated times, but overall, not within the 24 hours. A great achievement. The conditions were ideal for a ridge walk and two of the team climbed Crib Goch. Overall, a successful trip. Thanks to everybody who donated.
