My dad has always been there for everyone, not only the support and love he has given to my mum, his 5 children and 16 grand children but to the community. He ran the local scout group for many years and although he suffered sight loss still works within the scout movement ensuring a safe environment for local children to thrive and develop. Dad developed AMD, Age-related Macular degeneration a few years back, losing his sight almost overnight. Blind veterans stepped in to help. The support they have offered has been fantastic, providing equipment & skills training, to help my dad continue to live as independently as possible. Blind veterans isn't in the public domain as many other forces charities are, so by completing the John O'Groats to Lands End challenge we hope we can not only raise money for this amazing charity but also raise public awareness of the brilliant work they do.
