Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraiser!

I (Johnny) was diagnosed with Cyclothymia a few years ago, and while the diagnosis wasn't really expected, it did explain my behaviours and moods I'd experienced growing up. I spent a lot of time cycling between incredibly depressive moods, when even getting out of bed was too much, to being manic, wanting to change the world and reinvent myself, and the cycles became exhausting.

Mind had resources available that let me read about and understand my condition, and help me take better care of myself.

More recently, during the pandemic lockdowns, Maisie began suffering terribly. Her depression worsened to the point where she eventually attempted to leave this world behind, and had to be taken to A&E by ambulance.

Thankfully, she recovered, and finally got the help she needed, where she received her diagnosis of Bipolar II, after years of misdiagnoses. MIND was helpful to me, personally, as her partner, as it gave me resources to read to learn how to be a better partner to someone with Bipolar (my experience with Cyclothymia helps!)

We'd love the opportunity to give back to MIND, to help others out there with mental health struggles get the help they need.

Thanks for reading!
