Story
I am a strong supporter of heart disease awareness due to the nature of my career. I have been a member of the cardiovascular service line at SIH for over 20 years as a registered nurse. I am proud to be a part of an organization that delivers high quality cardiovascular care to Southern Illinois. I am walking in memory of my father-in-law, Larry Chapman. Larry had a sudden heart attack last August. He stayed active in the community, often helping with fundraiser dinners with my mother-in-law, Jane. He was often spotted at JALC basketball games, golfing, or at his grandchildren's functions. Jane and Larry had been married for over 50 years and had traveled to all 50 states and many countries. I am walking in memory of Larry to share his story on cardiovascular disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Don't ignore your symptoms of chest/jaw/arm discomfort, shortness of breath, nausea/vomitting, or fatigue. Please consider donating to this cause that will keep donations right here in Southern Illinois for cardiac patients.
