We did it! And what a beautiful day we had for our memory walk too! ☀️☀️a massive thank you to all of you that generously donated and sent well wishes. Thanks to your overwhelming support and generosity we have raised over £6,500 for the Alzheimer's Society and we still have offline donations to add to that. Feeling very lucky and proud to be part of the Shirrells! Now time for a celebratory drink!🍸
Hi Everyone,
On Sunday 26th September 2021, members of the Hirrell, Shearer and Jordan families are gathering to support this year’s Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk in Abbey Park, Leicester. Three, hopefully FOUR, generations of our families will be doing either a 3km (little ones and older ones) or 6km walk through the park grounds.
We are doing this to raise much needed funding and awareness for Dementia, a cruel and debilitating condition that is very close to all our hearts, having first-hand experience of much-loved family members who have suffered from and those that are still suffering and will suffer with this (as yet) incurable illness.
We all feel compelled to support this cause due to our experiences and doubtless (looking at statistics and from sharing of personal stories) many of you have had your lives touched in one unique way or another by one of the many types of Dementia.
If you are able, please sponsor our venture as generously as you can. Alternatively, you would be more than welcome to join us on the day for the walk and raise sponsorship yourselves. THE MORE THE MERRIER!!
Every three minutes someone in the UK develops dementia. That's the equivalent of around 225,000 people every year. By taking part in or supporting Memory Walk you are helping us walk for a dementia free future and help people affected by dementia.
Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to Alzheimer's Society. So, it's the most efficient way to raise money, saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Let's take on dementia together!
