Story
We've decided to run the swindon ‘trial’ half marathon! having just started our training i think the reality of this challenge has dawned on us and we’re starting to get a little worried aboit the short 16 weeks we've got to achieve it. In reality, we know that the 2 causes we've chosen to raise money for will far out weigh the aching muscles and tired legs so here are the a reasons why.
Alzheimer's… If anyone has had any experience with these diseases they’ll know how utterly cruel and heart breaking they are. We chose this charity as unfortunately Sam’s father in law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 4 years ago and to see the person you all love slowly disappear in front of your eyes is so upsetting. You still see the odd ‘look’, or heart felt smile when there’s the small hope he recognises you and you know for sure they’re in there somewhere. So much more needs to be done to slow down the process and hopefully we can help with that by raising money and awareness of these terrible illnesses.
Throat cancer… We chose this charity as our dad was recently diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. This has been a huge shock for all of us as a family and we hope by running this we can support our dad and others going through this terrible experience.
