WE'VE BUMPED UP THE TARGET AS WE HIT OUR £200 TARGET ALREADY - THANKYOU!
Motor Neurone Disease is really close to mine and Freya's hearts - we've both had family members affected by this horrible disease and would love to raise money to help find a cure and help those with MND.
Becca's Story:
My Grandad, Peter Carr, was diagnosed with MND after having a fall at home, it was quite a shock as he was so active and always went off to do the food shopping and was doing gardening etc. Unfortunately he went downhill quite quickly and was stripped of most of what he could do previously. He was in and out of Frimley Park Hospital and Phyllis Tuckwell throughout and had such incredible treatment - we really couldn't fault the staff at either place as they're just wonderful. Being stripped of being able to eat solid food/drink, walking and most things we take for granted everyday is one of the worst parts of this disease but he rarely moaned throughout and always kept a brave face when we went to visit him.
The loss of Grandad was a huge loss for our family and I've missed him so much since he passed so now I'm in a position where I can run a half marathon I want to raise as much money as I can in his honour and for those struggling with MND now.
Freya's Story:
I ran 2022 Bath Half for MNDA Bath and Bristol group and I’m running again for them!
I’ve known about MND for as long as I can remember. Sadly my uncle Philip was diagnosed in the early 90’s and passed away year after his diagnosis. From what I can remember he was an awesome guy and very dapper owning the men’s wear shop in Trowbridge. He used to come to my parents restaurant for lunches and as I was yet to start school I would sit and chat to him. Him and my dad were close and we think about him often!
I run and want to raise money now to help those and the families suffering with the disease and to hopefully eventually those clever scientists can find a cure!
