Story
Team Old Oak are taking part in the FoodCycle 50 Challenge and raising vital funds for FoodCycle to provide nutritious meals and friendly conversation to vulnerable people at the charity's White City facility.
The project supports the community by serving tasty lunches and dinners to vulnerable, homeless, and lonely people within the area surrounding Old Oak Common. Many struggle to afford the basics to eat and many will eat alone without company or conversation. At the same time, the project works tireless to reduce food waste from local supermarkets by using surplus items such as fruit and vegetables.
Taking place from 1st –30th April 2021, the team has 30 days to complete a challenge focused around the number 50. Challenges can take many forms and include fitness challenges, cooking, baking, virtual live events, arts and crafts etc. Examples may include cycling 50 km a week, baking 50cupcakes, reading 50 books, displaying 50 different MS Team backgrounds, stomping the pavement for 50 minutes every morning, or mastering 50 yoga poses – the possibilities are endless!
Creativity is greatly ap-peach-iated over the course of the month and participants are encouraged to carry out their initiatives whilst dressed as a fruit or vegetable (of course this is not mandatory!). Performing a daily round of 50 star jumps in a strawberry suit or running 50 miles dressed as a runner bean – we're very much look forward to seeing it!
