Raising money for Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, Cure Leukaemia and Teenage Cancer Trust

Story

On 21st November 2019 I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and was quickly transferred to the Young Persons Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. I'm still not really sure why but on 21st December 2019 I was put into a medically induced coma to try to save my life. Thankfully even though I was given a very small chance of surviving I did and I continue to receive the treatment that was researched by Cure Leukaemia at the QE with the support of Teenage Cancer Trust nurses.

Having started maintenance chemotherapy in August 2020 I was able to restart my fitness journey. When I came out of ITU I had to learn to walk again but little by little over the months that have followed I have slowly regained large amounts of my former fitness through steady incremental training all whilst still undergoing chemotherapy treatment both daily at home and monthly at the QE hospital.

I wanted to prove to myself that even through the adversity of have cancer it is still possible to achieve your goals and fulfil your passions.

My passions have always included fitness and helping others. I hope my story and this run can be the start of helping and inspiring others.

I'm sure you can understand why I have chosen to fundraise for these three charities that have helped me so much in different ways. Running a half marathon which starts at my house and ends at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital 2 years after being diagnosed seemed a good way to carry on improving my fitness and raise money whilst I continue with my treatment, after all they have all played a part in making this possible.

Unfortunately due to the way that just giving works I cannot show which donation page is for which charity. As I would like your sponsorship to go to all of the charities (unless you have a personal preference) please note the charities are in the following order. 1. Teenage Cancer Trust 2. Cure Luekaemia and 3. Queen Elizabeth Hospital Charity. I would appriciate if all the charities were supported.
