Story

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.

James and I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 2nd April 2023 in aid of Mind, an amazing charity who offer information and support for those suffering with mental health problems.

Even though 1 in 4 people have mental health problems, most of us don’t get the help we need.

In 2018 I was diagnosed with Anorexia, followed by a relapse when the pandemic hit in 2020. I was using food and exercise to cope with my emotions and to try to manage a situation which I had no control over. At the time, my overwhelming emotion was embarrassment. I felt really ashamed of having a mental health condition, I retreated into myself and felt I could only talk about it to just a few of my closest friends.

Mind is working hard to fight the shame and stigma of mental health problems. Mental health problems are not visible and it can take a lot of bravery to say “I’m not OK” - Mind are working to make that easier so that sufferers can get the support and respect that they need.
