Story
Hi Everyone,
On the 19th February and 23rd April I will be running the Seville and London Marathons: my first two, two months apart. I am going to run both of them in aid of two charities below.
If possible please split any donation you were going to make between the two charities. Unfortunately, you have to make 2 separate donations to do this. Just click on the two 'Harry Bennett' Team Members below.
1) SERV Surrey and London: https://servsl.org.uk/
If you need blood products at night, testing samples transferred, or other medical related products (including donated breast milk for new mothers) the NHS relies on volunteers to move them between hospitals. To me it is quite frankly mad that the NHS has to rely on volunteers for such a vital service, but across London and Surrey 141 volunteers - including my Dad - give up their nights to drive between hospitals.
In 2022 they did 5,811 runs between hospitals delivering 8,765 packs across Surrey and London and need money to keep doing this in 2023.
2) Multiple System Atrophy Trust: https://www.msatrust.org.uk/
Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is a neurological disorder and is something best avoided. Unfortunately my Grandad hasn't dodged that bullet and is one of the c.3,300 people in the UK suffering from it. It is similar to dementia, in that it is degenerative, but has more of an effect on your functionality. It affects your balance, movement and the autonomic nervous system, which controls several basic functions, such as breathing, digestion and bladder control.
As a rare condition, it isn't well understood or known about and there is currently no known cause or cure.
