Story
March is Endometriosis Awareness Month – and this year the Harris-Cook Family are joining the Endometriosis UK 1 in 10 Challenge to ensure the voices of those affected by endometriosis are not forgotten.
This is something very close to our hearts, as our daughter and sister, Rachel Harris, was diagnosed with endometriosis last year. For years Rachel's symptoms were dismissed; attributable merely to “women’s problems”, leading to years of chronic pain and discomfort and a sense of being left in the dark to constantly query what is actually going on. Unfortunately the disease had progressed over the years, with the damage done extensive. It was only due to Rachel's insistence that she was taken seriously, and a diagnosis was reached. Rachel has had one surgery already and needs another to address her diaphragmatic endometriosis, but getting a date for this has been difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Unfortunately this is the story of many, with endometriosis affecting 1 in 10 women, so the Harris-Cook Family want to help raise awareness and end the stigma around endometriosis. We ask that you support us this month in helping to raise money for this worthy cause and ensure that women today and in the future, don't have to go through years of suffering before getting the help and treatment they need.
