We are Yas and Jules, two slightly deranged women planning to risk our lives for charity by abseiling to raise funds for homelessness charity Porchlight.

On Friday 18 August 2023 at 12.30pm we will be abseiling the Orbit, with me wearing a Go Pro so I can film our descent back to the ground.

So why Porchlight?

Porchlight’s frontline teams already bring hope and help to vulnerable people in Kent who are forced to sleep rough, or face losing their homes. But there's so much more to do. Lockdown safety nets that helped the poorest people in our communities keep a roof over their heads have been ripped away. Relationships are breaking down. Families are falling apart. People’s mental health is suffering. In 2022 Porchlight took referrals for more than 1000 people who were rough sleeping, and our free helpline received over 33,000 calls. The number of people needing our help has risen steeply, and as the full impact of the pandemic and the rising cost of living starts to take hold, we're bracing ourselves for worse.
