Story
On the 6th September, 2022 - We are all taking on the Scilly Swim Challenge, a one-day open water 15km swimming journey around the Isles of Scilly. The swim will be an immense challenge, with tides, jelly fish, waves and weather to contend with! We are all swimming the full 15km, which is split into 5 swims, and 5 walks as we circumnavigate all the islands... with the longest swim at 6km! (for context an iron man swim distance is 3.9km)
We are doing this in memory of Catherine Ebbs who died from brain cancer in April 2019 after a year long courageous battle with illness.
Cath loved the Isles of Scilly so much and her family were lucky to spend many special summer holidays there, and as many of you know she was a very keen and strong swimmer. Our aim is to remember her through doing something she treasured, at the same time increasing awareness for two fantastic charities that are very important to all of us:
Brain Tumour Charity are the world’s leading charity working towards discovering effective life saving treatments for those suffering from brain cancer.
Dorothy House provides personalised palliative care and support to people in Wiltshire. David volunteers as a doctor on the inpatient unit at Dorothy House in Bradford on Avon two days a week.
Please join us in making sense of the untimely loss of a beautiful person who has changed many lives for the better.
