Story
Our son Bryan, who is now 30, has Angelman Syndrome, which is a rare genetic disorder that causes global developmental delays. Since 2003, Bryan has received all of his medical care, therapies, education, and overall support from the Matheny Medical and Educational Center. For those who don’t know, Matheny Medical and Educational Center is a special hospital focused on medical, education, and full life care 24/7, 365 days a year for children and adults with severe medical conditions and complex disabilities.
Before entering Matheny, Bryan was often in and out of emergency rooms with long hospital stays. Since Matheny, his health and quality of life have improved significantly, in large part thanks to the remarkable professional staff and care workers at Matheny.
Despite the tremendous expenses battling COVID-19, Matheny has been able to keep the quality of life of their vulnerable patients the top priority.
Miles for Matheny is an annual fundraiser that brings together the wonderful patients, families, and community members in a celebration of the extraordinary work Matheny does. This year – when we celebrate the 75th anniversary of Matheny and the 25th anniversary of Miles – we will finally be able to do so back in person!
Let us make a difference together! For years, work associates, friends, and family have supported Team Bryan Desatnick during Miles for Matheny, and I cannot thank you enough for that! With the pandemic still affecting our lives each day, donations are needed more now than ever. Our goal is to get as many donations as possible. Your donation in any amount is greatly appreciated.
