Story
During these unprecedented times, children are learning at home with the support and guidance of family members who are doing their very best in a situation that has significant challenges.
Whilst many children have a good support network and have thrived at home, there are some children who, through no fault of their parents or carers, have not. We cannot allow these children to be disadvantaged by the impact of COVID 19.
So, what do we need to do?
When schools re-open we want to support those children identified as having fallen behind by providing vital additional help. These children will be invited to attend catch up sessions run after school and in school holidays. They will receive literacy and numeracy lessons designed to help them make up for the education opportunities lost whilst schools were closed.
Where will the resources and teachers come from to run these sessions?
The Charity IntroSport Trust working with the school will provide the resources. In addition, IntroSport Trust will recruit suitable teachers, involving those who are newly-qualified as well as teachers who are experienced.
How can you help with this important project?
We need to raise as much money as possible. All money raised will pay for resources and teaching which will make sure no child loses out because of the impact of COVID 19.
We have decided as a school to take on the challenge to Walk Wales and walk the equivalent of the 870 mile Wales Coastal path. If at least 10 of us each walk or run three miles a day, we would hit the target after a month, 29 days to be precise. When we collectively get to 870 miles, we have successfully walked Wales!
So come on, support us in Walking Wales and make a difference to the lives of thousands of children. Dont let COVID 19 take away their chance to thrive. Give schools and their staff a vital helping hand to ensure that each child reaches their potential.
