Story
Hi,
I'm raising money for Alzheimer's and Spinal Research with trying to keep the funding as equal as possible.
I appreciate you reading my story and any donations would be so gratefully received.
October 21 we received the news my lovely Dad, Bill, had to have emergency surgery for an aneurysm.
The morning of the operation we drove Dad to the hospital and had the obligatory selfie, cuddles and good luck kisses.
Dad walked into the ward and waved us goodbye......they were the last steps Dad would ever take.
The following afternoon 6th Nov, we were sitting by dad's bedside when we were told the shocking news that the epidural given to Dad had caused a hematoma on his spine and he was unable to move his legs.
Devastatingly a further operation to remove the hematoma wasn't successful, and, after having had two emergency surgeries within 24 hours, and being in intensive care for weeks dad was left paralysed from the waist down and left with severe delirium.
Dad was sent to a rehabilitation hospital and then onto a Care Home in Cambridge, Finally Dad was moved nearer to his family, an amazing Nursing Home in Potters Bar, where he has been for the past year.
The delirium never subsided and dad was then diagnosed with Alzheimer's Spring of 2023.
After walking into hospital that cold dark morning of 5th November and waving us goodbye, Dad has never been home and we miss HIM dearly x .
I hope the money I raise for these amazing charities can help in the research into Spinal cord injuries and Alzheimer's to help our future generations from devastating effects these have had on my dearest Dad.
I am not a great runner, the longest I've ever run is probably about 10km!.It's going to be tough!!. It will be emotional!!! but, with your support I'm sure I'll get round, even if I have to crawl over the finish line!
Thank you so much for reading my story and any donations would be SO much appreciated.
Lots of love Emma Xxx
