Story
So, here we go again..! In 2019 I was lucky enough to swim from Jersey to France. This ended up being a 10hr+ swim, and oh it was worth it raising money for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust!
With some of my nearest and dearest in mind, I am again raising money for Charlotte and The Cystic Fibrosis Trust AND also Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide.
This year I am back and I have France set in my sights again - this time the English Channel from Dover to France - solo. The swim is 21 miles (a third further than my previous swim). I am also excited to be part of Team Genevinos - swimming 70km length of Lake Geneva in August. This will be a 28 hour ish swim for the 6 of us.
My training peaked in early June with a 7 hour and 6 hour back-to-back swim, that week concluded with me having swum for 18 hours in total, and some 44km. The following week I took part in the Champion of Champion British Long Distance Swimming Club event which I completed in just under 5 hours. From there I'm tapering down and adding in more rest, yoga and the odd recuperating massage to keep my shoulders ok.
In June, I am so grateful to everyone who took part in the Challenge 21. There were some very creative ways of doing the 21 challenge including pogo-ing, trampolining and of course swimming!
As always it is the young girls and boys (and their families) battling it out everyday that remain such an inspiration to me.
With much love,
Amanda and everyone in the Team xx
