Story
As a team we are undertaking the challenge of walking up mount Snowdon in Wales to raise funds and awareness for the MSA (Multiple System Atrophy) Trust.
MSA
Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is a rare condition of the nervous system that causes gradual damage to nerve cells in the brain. This affects balance, movement and the autonomic nervous system, which controls several basic functions, such as breathing, digestion and bladder control. In addition to this many different functions of the body can be affected, including the urinary system, blood pressure control and muscle movement. Unfortunately, there is currently no cure and no way of slowing its progression. Once detected the life expectancy of the patient is little more that 6-9 years and the rate of deterioration alarming and distressing for all those associated who witness it.
This Is a condition that Is particularly close to team Snowdon member Steve Bates who sadly lost his father-in-law David Fleming to MSA in July 2013. David was a much loved father and grandad who to quote Steve “ was the most generous ,sincere and loving person I have ever met “. He is fondly remembered, always loved and very much missed. From a personal perspective Steve is doing this trek in his honour but collectively as a team we felt it was a great opportunity to help raise awareness and much needed funding for further research and the development of any treatments.
Through blood sweat and tears we will put everything we have into conquering this mountain whilst also helping raise funds and awareness to help overcome this horrible condition
I give you team Snowdon Zac Berrycloth, Kyle Shilleto, Steve Bates, Richard Barnes, Stephen Midgley, Shad Rack, Reggie Thornton, Simon Fawcett, Dave Sage, Dave Meeson, Tony Meeson, Seth Meeson, Carl Nicholson, Lewis Nicholson, Mark Walker, Neil Worswick, Martin Ellis and Reece Williams.
