Aspire Channel Swim 2024
Campaign by Aspire (RCN 1075317)
The original Channel Challenge. Swim 22 miles, over 12 weeks, in the comfort of your local pool, starting on 9th September. Anyone can take part wherever and whenever they like. Raise essential funds for people paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury.

Story

In September 2022, Tim suffered a fall from a horse and fracturing C5 to C7 and suffering spinal compression. Following surgery at Kings College, he has made an amazing recovery and is continuing to improve his mobility and dexterity.

Quite unbelievably, in March 2023, Matty was volunteering for a charity in Tenerife and was knocked over by a rogue wave suffering a complete spinal fracture C6/C7 and paralysis from his chest down. Matty is still in rehab at Stoke Mandeville.

It’s surreal for two friends to suffer two injuries in such a short period of time and is still something hard to believe. Matty has a long journey ahead of him but with support of his family and friends, we hope he will be back from Stoke Mandeville in the not too distant future.
