Story
After 11 years of trying Jackie managed to secure a ballot space on the London Marathon. To keep her motivated Richard was prepared to do the training, and then we hit on the bright idea of getting him a charity place - and succeeded! So on the 2nd October we will both be pounding the streets of London, together with a few thousand new best friends and the odd supporter. The ballot was drawn just a few days after we lost Hudson, so in his memory, Guide Dogs seemed a great choice - and a huge thank you to them for the charity place. Hudson enhanced all our lives and we really want to support the work that Guide dogs do. So please help us to help them, it will be slow and steady, and a huge task, but we are going to commit and give it our best shot. Keep an eye out as update on our progress!
Every day, 250 more people join the 2 million already living with sight loss. This number is set to double by 2050, which is why our work is more important than ever before, however, we can only continue our life-changing work, such as our guide and buddy dog services, mobility training, education support, sighted guides and much more with your support.
"Having a guide dog is a life-changing experience and I'm phenomenally grateful to Guide Dogs for enabling me to be more independent" - Priya, guide dog owner.
