Story
Dylan, my beautiful, smiley and funny 8 year old son, died in my arms on the 13th December 2020 because of chest problems. He had bravely, and successfully, battled a brain tumour for over 6 years. During that time he personally helped to further advances in treatments by being one of the first to trial a new chemotherapy protocol, by enabling doctors to enhance their skills on him and by being pivotal in the implementation of a new treatment protocol in our NHS trust.
Team Dylan currently consists of me, Jess, Dylan's mum, my friend Heidi and Dylan's brothers Jake and Elliot. We have come together to honour Dylan and over the course of the year we intend to take on some personal challenges to help raise much needed research funds in memory of Dylan.
We have chosen to support the charity Brain tumour research because research into brain tumours is woefully under funded and sustain long-term peer-reviewed research at the charities UK based Centres of Excellence, the charity are aiming to raise £1 million per year.
That's £2,740 per day, per centre!
We have decided that we are going to raise the funds needed for a day's research, we're going to sponsor a day! Not just any old day, but Dylan's birthday, 8th January.
We have already sponsored his 9th birthday, now its time to sponsor his 10th!
Our long term goal is to sponsor all of Dylan's lost birthdays in the hope that it enables other children to celebrate many more birthday's than he did.
