Story
As some of you are aware in 2020, Cheryl was diagnosed with a stage 4 incurable lung cancer and at the same time an extremely rare autoimmune disease called Scleroderma, which is a chronic debilitating condition which at this time there is no known working treatment or indeed a cure.
This has not only been been a massive shock, but physically and emotionally demanding on her. It is a constantly adapting challenge, not only for Cheryl but for all of us.
Throughout this journey Cheryl has been offered support and guidance from the much lauded Macmillan, Martlets, but also the lesser known but equally wonderful “Albion in the Community” The counselling service they provide, which Cheryl is making much needed use of today. It’s with all this in mind we all wanted to be involved in celebrating“10 years at the Amex” and take part in this challenge to raise much needed funds to say thank you.
The challenge is to walk, run, swim or scoot the distance between the Amex stadium to the home of football Wembley which is either 54 miles one way or 108 miles return.
Aware of limited physical ability, Cheryl does not know how long she will be able to attempt something like this, but she is going to walk the 54 miles in manageable chunks. Giving her the opportunity to give something back to this little known but massively important charity.
We are all going to either be doing the 54 or 108 miles and provide updates along the way.
The team consists of Cheryl Jones, Paula, Ian, Becci, Harry and Charlie Bennett, Sam and Jeremy Boyle, Ali McDonald, Emily Daker, plus our furry friends Teddy and Lele.
Every donation really does make a difference.
