Story
Last year I did the impossible - or so I thought... 4 half ironmans and a full in 5 months, so I had to up the anti this year with an ultra triathlon - I actually I signed up in 2019 before the 'thing' hit and took all my work, money and basically general life. I also couldn't grieve for my dad. What kept me going was doing some mad cap virtual challenges of my own to raise money for Helen and Douglas Children's Hospice and Cyclists Fighting Cancer. I couldn't do the 130 mile ride for CFC so I did it on a turbo, I couldn't do the ironman or marathon for H&D so I did a virtual long distance duathlon on the the turbo and run around the locked down streets. I then walked the virtual with my mum and Ian Doggy who had to have a lift at the end in his buggy..
I signed up for the Monster tri to celebrate 10 years since I cycled Lands End to John O Groats on a folding mountain bike. I thought it would be grand to see the journey in reverse and on a proper road bike this time. So what is it...
5km swim with Nessie, I hope he pee's when he sees us to warm up the freezing loch.
1000km bike ride
50km run
Yep its the big one....
I've continued to raise money for Helen and Douglas as I know how much they have suffered during lock down, they lost the majority of their own events as well as missing a whole year of people doing London and other fundraisers. CFC also had to cancel all their bike rides and miss out on other opportunities.
I know times are very hard at present, so if you can't donate I understand but please share..
