We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

On the 6th of February 2022 Olive, myself and many, many friends and family members lost someone very special when Helen, my wife of 12 years passed away suddenly and un-expectedly at the age of 43.

Helen was a keen swimmer when at school. In the last few years she had returned to swimming, using it to improve her fitness, meet new friends and aid her mental wellbeing.

Last year Helen completed in the Exmoor Big Swim competing the 4km challenge. This represented her longest ever swim and she overcame nerves to complete the swim faster than expected. This time Olive, myself and friends will be completing the 1km challenge. For Olive the challenge will be the distance, and for me the cold water and trying not to sink!

We have set the target at £4275 because if we achieve it we will have raised £10960 in Helen’s name for the charity. This would fund 4 days research and hopefully bring them a step closer to managing this disease.

Thank you

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
