Story

St Thomas More School takes part in the Molineux Sleepout!

A team of staff from St Thomas More School are ready and excited to be taking part in the Molineux Sleepout in November. We often teach the young students at our school about the suffering of those who are homeless, poor and vulnerable in our society. By joining the Molineux Sleepout we hope to put a spotlight on the issues of homelessness in our local community and raise some much needed funds for local charities.

Wolverhampton has a population of 263,537 and is amongst the 20 most deprived areas in the UK. The city falls 13th in ratings for education deprivation, eighth for income deprivation, fifth for youth violence in the West Midlands and sixth for employment deprivation. Wolverhampton, like so many cities around the country, is experiencing high levels of inequalities which is impacting unemployment rates, food poverty statistics and peoples mental health.

All funds raised will be shared between Wolves Foundation and the Good Shepherd, the charity situated opposite Molineux which provides food and a range of support services for those in need from the local community.
