One day I'll do it ... I never dreamt at the age of 47 and slightly broken physically that I would be fulfilling this huge bucket list dream - I am running the London Marathon on October 2nd! More importantly I am doing it for the most precious cause - our two amazing daughters Lara & Freya, whom most of you reading this will know or had the privilege to have met. The girls have a degenerative condition which makes every day of their lives (and ours) harder not just physically but emotionally. They are a true inspiration to us and can have us laughing and crying in equal measure about their immense struggles. Some days the sadness is incomprehensible but together we and their formidable little brothers always seem to pull through.

Whizzkidz is an obvious choice of charity given they are both wheelchair users and I am so fortunate they have given me this opportunity. For this I will be eternally grateful. I have pledged to raise £2100 for them but would like to raise a little more than this as a thank you and I will look forward to hearing how it will help their wonderful charity. My other charity Julia's House have been a constant presence in our home for several years now - unknown to even our closest friends to protect the girls privacy. Julia's House have become our friends and have been there for us through thick and thin - the most amazing team of ladies who we will miss when they leave us next year as Freya reaches 18.

So it is for both of these charities I will be trying to reach that finish line - but it will be the picture of my girls and the memory of their faces when they found out i'd been successful in gaining a place in the marathon - that will be with me every step. They were brimming with happiness for me. Our bond is undoubtedly even greater due to their disability and I am so grateful for them and what they continue to teach us every day.

Charities such as Whizzkidz and Julias House do make the physical burden that little easier however so any donations you can give to ensure other families benefit like we have would be hugely appreciated. Thank you.
