In 2020 Karen and Hilary were due to Thames Path Mighty Hikes Marathon but of course this didn't take place along with all our beloved Theatre events due to COVID19. So when our two mutual friends from Street Theatre Company met for a coffee and a walk, we decided to do this one together.
Karen said " Having lost my Father to cancer, I know how important Macmillan is in supporting families through difficult times. Taking on this challenge with good friends from Street Theatre seemed a great way to help raise some funds. Any support given is much appreciated by us all. Thank you xx"
For Di this is going to be a particular challenging one. -here's why "Just over 2 years ago I could barely walk 50 meters without having to stop because of severe pain in my legs. I had always been active and sporty, so this was really affecting my life. In May 2019 I underwent invasive vascular bypass surgery which I hoped would cure the problem and give me a better quality of life.Well thankfully the operation was a success and here I am now at 71 years of age determined to complete this 26 and a half mile challenging hike through the Wye Valley in September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer.
Samantha says " I was out on a walk with Hilary one day and she mentioned a walk to raise money for Macmillan. I thought that sounded like a good idea and a goal to get fit. Found out later that it isn’t a walk but a 26.5 mile ‘Hilly Hike’!! Too late - I’m signed up now! Please support the four of us."
So here we are, The Somerset Girls from Street Theatre joining together in what will be a huge challenge for us all to raise money for this worthy cause. We need to raise £1000 as a group, so please support us if you can. Thank you. x
