Story
We have decided to take part in this year’s KiltWalk to raise much needed funds for Chris’s House, a charity from our hometown of Wishaw who are dedicated to offering a safe environment where people in, or approaching, suicidal crisis can have a safe place to go and get professional support, and any families affected by mental health issues or bereaved by suicidal crisis can seek care and recovery.
Chris’ House stands for “Centre of Help, Response and Intervention Surrounding Suicide”. The charity was set up after a local mum lost her son, Chris, to suicide, and this amazing mum went on to create the charity and the first 24h non-medical crisis centre in Scotland for those affected by mental health issues and/or suicidal thoughts.
Our fundraising group, the Sole Sisters, is made up of a group of friends from the local area who all have first hand experience of just how much help and support this charity gives on a daily basis - both to our friends and family as well as our local community. North Lanarkshire has been scarred so much by suicide in recent years, and Chris’ House is like a beacon of light to the people affected by it. It’s scary to think of our community without Chris’ House.
With 60+ volunteers now, the incredible work this charity does is spreading wider, and we want to help them in any and every way we can. What they do should be known and experienced far and wide. Your donation, no matter how small can create a significant impact 💛 Thank you!
