Sleep Out is an annual fundraising event organised by The Benjamin Foundation as part of a campaign to end youth homelessness.

Story

For the fifth year, a team from Birketts will be taking part in The Benjamin Foundation's Norwich Sleep Out at Norwich Cathedral Cloisters. On 6 October, 18 colleagues from the Norwich office will be spending one night sleeping outside so a young person doesn't have to and we are hoping to raise as much money as possible for this great cause.

The Benjamin Foundation is a Norfolk and Suffolk based charity that is committed to ending youth homelessness, tackling the problem locally by providing a home and support to over 200 vulnerable young people each night, equating to over 50,000 safe nights each year. The organisation gives the young people stability, supporting their education, training and careers and also by helping them to develop life skills, such as shopping, cooking and budgeting, ultimately enabling them to forge an independent life.

Sleep Out does not aim to replicate homelessness and what it is like to be lonely, frightened and vulnerable, but it does give participants a small glimpse of some of the challenges homeless people may face. It is an important fundraising event for The Benjamin Foundation to help prevent youth homelessness and support local young people to take their next steps to leading successful independent lives. In today’s climate of funding cuts, the cost of living and uncertainty following the pandemic, fundraising has become more important than ever.

We are so grateful for your support!
