Story
Simone Ingeberg, Vishal Khosla, Simon Thornton and Claire Burton will be running the 2023 London Marathon for MS-UK, which is a national charity established in 1993 dedicated to empowering people with multiple sclerosis to make the most of today, and live life to the best of their abilities. MS-UK puts people affected by multiple sclerosis at the heart of what they do and they provide high quality, professional services to support people living with the disease.
Multiple sclerosis is a degenerative nervous disease of the brain and spinal cord, causing permanent damage or deterioration of the nerves. The symptoms of MS vary widely with some people experiencing a rapid change in what they are able to do, including the ability to walk and care for themselves. There is no cure for multiple sclerosis and somewhat frighteningly it normally starts between the ages of 20 and 40 years and becomes progressively worse. There are currently around 130,000 people with MS in the UK and they desperately need funding especially in light of the last couple of years, and we need your help and support to keep us motivated and focused with our training during the winter months ahead!
Everything MS-UK does supports people to manage this incurable condition and increase their health and wellbeing. Every donation counts! £50 could pay for a telephone counselling session for someone struggling with their mental health, £200 is the cost of 10 complementary subscriptions to a New Pathways magazine for those who cannot afford it. £2,770 would help support people through our national MS-UK helpline and web chat for a whole week. Any donation you can make, big or small, will help sustain their all-important services.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for sponsoring us.
