Story
During Lent we are encouraged by the church to mark this time by doing certain things; prayer, fasting and almsgiving. These practices help us walk closer to Jesus by talking with him, simplifying our lives and giving generously. They prepare us for commemorating the death of Jesus on Good Friday and celebrating His Resurrection on Easter Sunday.
Giving is something our SJB community is very good at, and last week we launched our Lenten charity collections. This year we will be fundraising for, locally, The Lighthouse Project , and Change Please , both these charities were set up by SJB families. Nationally we will support, The Samaritans , in honour of Mr Windsor who regularly volunteered for this charity and BEATSCAD who due to their amazing research saved the life of the mother of our Head Boy Daniel. Internationally we will be supporting WaterAid as voted for by our SJB students.
How to donate:
Thank you for supporting our SJB Fundraisng this Lent. This year we have set up Just Giving pages so that both current and past SJB families and friends can support our selected charities. By collecting donations via Just Giving we are also able to claim Gift Aid for our charities giving them an extra 25% on top of our fundraising efforts. When donating, if possible please tick to include Gift Aid. Those donating on behalf of students currently at SJB please include your child's form group in the comment so that it can be added to their form group totals.

Please click on our SJB charity fundraising page linked to this event (in the blue text above) to choose where you want your fundraising money to go. Where possible we encourage you to evenly distribute fundraising efforts, if one charity hasn't got many donations yet and you do not mind which charity your money goes to out of all these amazing causes then please choose to donate to the one with the least money. Whole school fundraising events where money is collected in house will be split equally between our charities to make it fair to everyone.

If any SJB students and staff would like to create their own JustGiving page collecting for one of our charities, please link it to this SJB team page. You will need to create a charity fundraising page first for one of our supported charities which is very easy to do and afterwards copy this link https://www.justgiving.com/team/sjb-lenten-fundraising-2023? invite=true to join the team or request to join by clicking below where it says 'Join Team'. This way all your personal fundraising will be linked to our SJB fundraising total. If you need any help, please visit Mrs Petri in the Art Department.
