We catalyse nature recovery to support rewilding at scale.

Story

The Shackleton Society are running the length of the UK in Lent to raise money for Knepp Wildland Foundation, a charity working to rewild areas of Sussex through restoring the river Adur and creating wildlife corridors from Weald to Waves.

Between the 10 of us in ShacSoc, we'll aim to run 1407km, the John O'Groates to Lands End route, between the 1st of January 2023, and the end of the Lent half. Wish us luck!

*10/04/23 COMPLETED 1423km total*

We're a team of 10 who complete physical challenges to raise money for causes we care about. In the past we ran the distance that Shackleton rowed, completed a half iron-man each, and hiked the yorkshire 3 peaks. We've raised over £8500 in total for SafeLives, WorldLandTrust, and NSIF.

About the charity

The Knepp Wildland Foundation was founded to galvanise nature recovery across Sussex and beyond. We use evidence, knowledge and inspiration from the pioneering work of Knepp to support rewilding at scale, with a particular focus on communities, corridors and the next generation of rewilders.
