Story
Four dads against the Étape Loch Ness - 106k, 66 miles, and at least one very big hill.
Who are the seagulls?
If you'd ever seen our children gathered around a picnic table when the snacks are brought out you'd understand. Seagulls grew out of a group of mums with snack devouring toddlers and the nickname of their WhatsApp group.
It wouldn't occur to dads to make pals so thanks to our wives and some cajoling we found a great group.
Seagulls cycling club is a grandiose name for four dads of varying fitness levels, one of whome didn't have a bike at the start of this mad cap plan, but all of them needed a challenge and a purpose to get a bit fitter post lockdown.
Why Simpsons Special Care Babies
Simpsons neonatal unit and the team there are special to Team Seagulls and we are riding to support them, to support more families.
Simpsons Special Care Babies (SSBC) is a Scottish registered charity run entirely by volunteers. SSBC's primary objective is to support the specialist care that the staff of the Simpson Neonatal Unit provide to babies born prematurely or sick.
SSCB raise funds to provide: state of the art equipment, the most advanced staff training, groundbreaking research in the field of neonatology, and support and advice to the staff and families in the Neonatal Unit, complementing and enhancing that already provided by the NHS.
